Designer Zeynep Kartal supports Syrian Refugees

I was very grateful to recently be invited to attend a charity fashion show in aid of Syrian Refugees at the Turkish Ambassadors london residence by designer Zeynep Kartal. The collection was divine, the location was surreal and for such a great cause, just an altogether wonderful evening!

Zeynep is deeply passionate about supporting the cause of the Syrian Refugees. Naively I didn’t realise the scale of the problem until she shared some facts about this tragic crisis. Approximately 13.5 million Syrians mainly women and children have been forced out of their homes into neighbouring countries and to date 3 million Syrians have registered in Turkey. Turkey is providing the largest scale hosting to refugees in the world.

More importantly the ‘Kizilaykart’ project in collaboration with the UN World Food Programme and Turkish Red Crescent aim to assist school aged Syrian children to cope with their new environment, culture and the destructive effects war could have had on them. This charity is doing an incredible job but help is still needed.

The collection was inspired by and reflected the Syrians plight with the entire collection being in white and black. Black for the suffering they have endured and white for the hope of brighter things for their future.

The collection was utterly divine, boho chic at its best.  Nostalgic images of my mother in the 60’s/70’s hit me. Lace, ruffles, delicate femininity combined with sharp tailoring. Checkout a few of my pictures of this stunning collection.  I was also wearing one of Zeynep’s pieces on the night and honestly felt like a fairytale princess. The hair by Inanch London complimented the collection perfectly as the models glid down the catwalk like retro’s goddess’. Styled by Kelvin Barron and Makeup by Scarlett Burton. The backstage team did an incredible job.

Then there was my stunning dress.. Sorry but just have to share these piccies.
