We all feel a little lost and almost like we don’t know where our lives are headed from time to time. It’s rare that we know what direction we want to take, or what our ‘purpose’ is in life. You might wonder if you’ve taken the wrong path, or if you’re destined for better things. Stop fretting. This post will tell you how to feel more at peace with your life.

Stop Taking It So Seriously

The first thing you need to do is stop taking life so seriously. Stop beating yourself up if things don’t go your way. Stop thinking every bad thing is the end of the world. None of us really know why we’re here, so we might as well just relax about it. The sooner you stop taking life so seriously, the better you’ll feel. It’s good to have goals and want to achieve things, but if you can also detach yourself from outcomes, you’ll have a much better time.

Change Something

Not happy with your job, partner, house? Whatever it is, change something. Only you have the power to change it. If not, you might always wonder ‘what if’. If you suffer with crippling indecision, then make a list of pros and cons. Ask yourself what would be worse, staying in the situation you’re in now, or experiencing the uncertainty of changing it? Making any decision, even the wrong one, is better than making no decision at all. Bear in mind that even uncertainty is a decision to some degree. You need to make the decision to know.

Learn More About Yourself

Learn more about yourself. What are your core values? What do you enjoy doing? You might not know your life purpose yet, but you’ll never find out if you don’t ask yourself these simple questions.

Give It Meaning

Give your life meaning. Don’t expect meaning to come and smack you in the face. Make your life mean whatever you want it to mean.

Meditate

Meditation is a brilliant tool for unlocking answers and creativity. More people should do it! You might just find that the answers you’ve been seeking come to you when your mind is quiet. This should be included in your daily routine for at least 10 minutes. Haven’t got time? Then you need meditation more than anybody! Live In The Moment

Stop thinking about the past and future. The past does not define you and the future isn’t here yet. All we have is now. The sooner you realise that the happier you will be.

Take Small Steps

You don’t need to take huge, quantum leaps in the direction of your goals. You just need to take teeny tiny baby steps. Ask yourself what you can do that day, in that moment to make your goals more reachable. Then, your huge goals won’t seem so ridiculous. Everybody starts somewhere, and they got where they are by taking small steps in the right (sometimes even wrong) direction.
