What to consider when planning a themed wedding

There’s a lot to think about and plan when your nuptials are looming, and much of it will be extremely mundane. One way to make the wedding planning process that bit more exciting, however, is to base your big day on a particular theme.

Your wedding day is supposed to be the most special day of your life, so at the very least, the thought of it should capture your imagination. Here are some of the things that it is most urgent for you to consider when you are organising a themed wedding.

The theme itself

The theme that you choose for your big day will guide so much else about how you plan it. For example, many people these days love the idea of a ‘vintage’ style wedding, and even the most subtle touches will make a difference in terms of achieving that all-important ‘vintage’ vibe.

It may be that you wish to base your wedding around a particular era, such as the 1920s – or, more likely, you may decide to simply go for a generally ‘traditional’ feel, but with modern elements where appropriate.

We know a thing or two about vintage-themed weddings here at Château Bouffémont. We are an immensely in-demand venue among those who aspire to the ultimate romantic French chateau wedding. After all, not many wedding venues can offer a backdrop as enchanting as ours, including our noble, stone-built residence, refined furnishings and magnificent surrounding grounds consisting of spectacular manicured French gardens.

The venue

We have already touched on the merits of our own resplendent French chateau property here at Château Bouffémont, and it’s certainly true that you will want the venue for your themed wedding to be an inspiring one.

For those who choose us for their nuptials, such inspiration will be provided by the finest of fine fabrics, the most luxurious facilities and the general aristocratic charm that is in evidence across the four floors of our monumental chateau, covering some 2,000 square metres of living space.

However, you will also need to think about such mundane practicalities as the location of your venue. We may be set in fairytale rural surroundings at the heart of the Montmorency forest, but we are also a mere 30 kilometres away from the centre of Paris and 20 minutes from Charles de Gaulle Airport, so you should have no worries about everyone being able to reach the venue.

The time of year

The appeal of a summer wedding is obvious, especially if you wish to make the most of the outdoor photography opportunities that sprawling grounds like those at Château Bouffémont afford. With everyone out in the sun, you may also have more scope to go for exactly the idyllic look to which you aspire for your wedding dress and the outfits of the groom, bridesmaids and attending family and friends.

However, if you’re looking to tie the knot in December, you may wish to embrace this by holding a Christmas-themed wedding, right down to the most festive decor details. Bear in mind that here at Château Bouffémont, we have a fully equipped guest kitchen for your use, or you can request that our private chef prepares suitably Christmassy meals for all of the attendees.

The dining experience

As we’ve outlined above, the cuisine served to your wedding guests can be tied nicely into whatever theme you have in mind, and it helps to choose a venue with the staff that are capable of rustling up the most specialised and appropriate dishes for you and your party.

Again, though, the mundane practicalities must be considered here. Does the venue that you have in mind have the capacity for all of your prospective diners? Château Bouffémont, for instance, can accommodate as many as 150 guests for a seated dinner, or 250 for a cocktail.
