Wedding Madness. Know When To Go Back To Basics

Wedding Madness. Know When To Go Back To Basics

There are so many guides out there for planning an outlandish wedding, that it can be easy to lose sight of the basics. The initial planning stages can be some of the most overwhelming. Your brain goes into shutdown at the sheer size of the task in front of you. If you’re in that panicked stage of your planning, you’ve come to the right place. This list will remind you of those basics. Don’t worry about themes or keeping things unique right now. Take a deep breath, and remind yourself of the starting points on your planning journey.

Sorting a venue is crucial. Without a venue, there won’t be a wedding. Getting a venue booked up in advance is key, as most get booked up early. This is also great as a starting point because it allows you to see what time frame you’re working with. There are many wedding and event venues out there, it’s just a case of deciding which is for you. Decide what kind of wedding you’re after. Knowing what type of venue you will be viewing will narrow things down. Are you considering churches, country houses, or hotels? Maybe you just want a small wedding reception affair. Make a choice and start looking!

Rings are a smaller detail, but they’re one part of your wedding that will stay with you for a long time! Avoid any last minute rushes by getting your rings sorted early. Choose your rings in the initial stages of planning. You don’t need to worry about the wedding day itself to get them right. It’s also worth getting rings as soon as possible in case of any adjustments that need making. Don’t end up with a ring that doesn’t fit and no time to get it resized!

There are many dresses involved in the average wedding. Not only do you need to get your dress sorted, but you also need to get dresses for bridesmaids. Getting the dresses sorted early on will take a lot of pressure off. Again, it will also give plenty of time for alterations.  Alterations can be a nightmare, especially with regards to bridesmaids. Don’t stress yourself by leaving those dresses until the last minute. When shopping for dresses, don’t forget to enjoy yourself. This is your moment. You’ll only get the chance for a wedding dress fitting once in your lifetime. Savour the feel of those gorgeous dresses, and make sure to pick the one that most melts your heart!

No wedding would be complete without the guests. As soon as you have a venue booked and an idea of numbers, turn your attention to your guest list. If your wedding is a big one, there’s going to be a lot of invitations to send. Get the list out of the way, to save you having to worry about it. This can also be a good time to start preparing a seating plan for the reception. Kill two birds with one stone!
