Updating Your Kitchen Without Breaking The Bank In Six Easy Steps

Updating Your Kitchen Without Breaking The Bank In Six Easy Steps

During the winter, you spend more time at home than at any other point during the year. That means that it’s important to make sure that you really enjoy your home and your space. Here are some tips on how to update your kitchen without going way over budget.

Update Your Cabinets

Replacing your cabinets can be a huge expense but luckily there are things you can do to improve them without spending thousands on entirely new cupboards. If you’re sick of the colour, you can sand and repaint wooden cabinets, or stain them a different colour. Alternatively, you can replace door knobs and handles with new ones that are a little more interesting-looking, allowing you to add your own taste to the room.

Invest In New Taps

If your kitchen taps aren’t to your liking, you’re probably annoyed with them several times a day. Look online for new cheap kitchen taps to replace your old ones. Not only will the water start to flow better but they’ll also add a new look to your kitchen – maybe you want to go for a more modern sleek style or more ornate golden taps. Whichever you choose, it’ll add a whole new dimension to your space.

Choose New Linens

There’s nothing that looks less attractive than a tea towel that’s covered in old stains and burn marks. Pick out new towels and oven gloves that match and tie in with the rest of the room’s décor. Although novelty ones look cute, it might be a better idea to get a set of matching towels, to look chic and fresh. You could even get a tablecloth to go with them!

Pick Out Wall Art

This applies to any part of your home – if you’re sick of the way your house looks, it’s time to get artistic and to add some interesting pieces to your walls. If you have any favourite paintings by famous artists, buy a couple of prints and frame them and put them on the walls. Alternatively, if you have any children or nieces and nephews, you could put up a couple of pieces of their art to brighten up the room.

Create A Herb Garden

Plants indoor are good for your health, both physically and mentally. They provide you with more oxygen and they also make your home look fantastic. There’s no better way to really look like you have everything together than to have a row of healthy, thriving herbs on your kitchen windowsill. Not only that, but you can use them in your cooking instead of bringing slightly wilted bundles of basil home from the store.

Change Your Lighting

A lot of kitchens have white overhead lighting, which is flattering to absolutely no one. Buy new shades for your bulbs that will add more of a golden glow. If you need the white lights to make sure you can see what you’re doing when you’re cooking, instead consider investing in a stand up lamp, so you can turn it on when you’re eating at the table. This will cast a warm glow across you and your family and help conversation to flow.
