Trend Watch: Sensational Seventies For S/S15

After months of being wrapped up we are so glad that spring has finally sprung and we can finally enjoy some sunshine. As we all know a change in season also means a change in wardrobe. We’ve been keeping a close eye on all the S/S15 shows and one definitive trend has emerged, the Seventies! Think floppy hats, fringing and flares! Don’t worry though it’s all been fabulously updated for the women of today. Enjoy!

Cara walking in the Saint Laurent S/S15 show, suede at the Chloé S/S15 show and Alexa Chung in the hotly anticipated M&S skirt due out soon.

Suede hasn’t been as prominent on the catwalks in recent season’s as it was this year. However it’s making a stylish comeback, to refresh your spring wardrobe for 2015. And with good reason, it adds texture to an outfit all the while making it look more luxurious than leather or other fabrics. It was all over the catwalks from Saint Laurent, Chloe and Chanel to Topshop.

Even Marks & Spencer have come out with a suede skirt that everyone is already coveting, Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung were spotted wearing it, and it’s not even been released in stores yet.

Scarves!? In spring!? YES WE SAY! The skinny scarf is back and it’s so effortlessly chic that anyone can work it. You can pair it with floaty spring dresses or even a smart tailored suit for dinner. It’s the ultimate spring accessory. It was spotted on the runways of Saint Laurent and in the recent Topshop Campaign with Cara Delevingne.

The wonderful flower prints and gorgeous clothes at Henry Holland and Emilio Pucci

Nothing screams Seventies more than loud graphic flower prints. Take it a step further and clash your prints for the ultimate flower power look a la Henry Holland. Emilio Pucci also showcased a subtler take on the trend with sumptuous detail.

The towering and terrific platforms at Tom Ford S/S15.

After clothes what could be more important? Shoes, of course! And for spring the go to shoe is the platform. Chunky, fun and much more comfortable than stiletto heels the girls at Tom Ford and Victoria Beckham sashayed down the catwalk with the attitude to match those disco -esque platforms. Don’t be afraid to buy them in shiny metallic, wild animal prints or pair them with tights in varying colours either.

Cool whites at Sonia Rykel S/S15, fringed boots at Etro S/S15, gorgeous black at Proenza Schouler S/S15 and trendy tan bags at Mango S/S15.

Fringing was literally EVERYWHERE on the SS15 catwalks. Shoes, bags, boots, dresses, and jackets, we couldn’t escape it! But frankly we didn’t want to, as this trend is so very chic yet still casual. It can be found in almost every high street store so you have no excuse not to invest in a few pieces ladies. We found some and wanted to share with you!

Bag from Accessorize at £55. Jacket at Mango for £79.99, and our absolute favourites, these lovely fringed sandals at Zara for £49.99.

We hope that our trend watch helps you to spruce up your spring wardrobe ladies. Let us know in the comments what you think of the  return of the Seventies!
