Whether you’re planning a move because you need more space or because you’re relocating, it doesn’t matter. If you want a quick and fair sale, you need to ensure that your home looks its best. Of course, we know how to beautify the insides of our home to prepare for property viewings, but what about the outside? It’s not just the inside that’s important, how well maintained your yard is, is also crucial if you want to make a sale quickly.

You see, a garden that’s messy and out of control suggests that you haven’t bothered when it comes to property maintenance. This can easily put buyers off as they will start to wonder how well cared for your home has been. The good news is that whatever state your garden is in, you can easily get it looking good. All you need to do is take the tips below on board, and you can create a garden to be proud of.

Write a list of what needs doing

To ensure that you do everything that needs doing, write a list. Go around your yard with a pen and paper and write a to-do list of everything that needs doing. This will allow you to ensure that nothing gets missed off and forgotten about. Things like ‘clear junk’, ‘kill weeds’ and ‘mow lawn’, should be at the top of your list as these are the most important.

Tackle the big things first

Always tackle the big things first. This is crucial as often you can run out of time for them. Get the biggest jobs done first, so that as your first viewing gets closer, it’s just the smaller things that you need to worry about. If for example, you plan on redoing the patio, do this first to get it out of the way. Or, if a tree needs trimming, use a company like Valley Tree Service and get the job out of the way quickly. So that you don’t need to panic about the bigger jobs, as they’ve already been done.

Get inspiration

Once you’ve tackled the big jobs, you can then focus on giving your garden a beautiful look and feel. The best way to go about this is to get some inspiration, as this will help you to come up with the perfect design. Obviously, as you’re moving out, you don’t want to spend too much on it. So it’s important to be careful of how much you spend updating your yard.

Stage your garden

Last but not least, before a viewing, stage your garden. You know how before a property viewing you add little features inside your home, to give it a more welcoming feel? Well, that’s staging. Staging is about giving your home that showroom type feel, showing off it’s potential. Well, it’s not just the inside of your home that should be staged, but the outside too. Simple things like placing smart garden furniture, a BBQ, and other bits and bobs can give your home’s exterior that perfect look and feel.

So there you have it, everything that you need to know about getting your home’s exterior ready for property viewings. Good luck!
