Thomas and Friends – The Great Race

Thomas and Friends – The Great Race

So on Sunday myself and the kids got up early and headed to Kings Cross Theatre for the VIP Screening of the latest Thomas and Friends Movie, The Great Race. It was screened in a very apt location with a screen above the railway where the railway children was performed so an ideal setting to set the scene for the kids. We arrived to a great play area full of thomas trains and tracks which Rocco just loved and the girls indulged in lots of mini bagels and train shaped sandwiches.

As Rocco’s only 13 months and a very big boy for his age I wasn’t entirely sure if he would last 5 min maybe 10 if we were lucky. But by a miracle he was so mesmerised by the film that he lasted 45mins which I promise is a long time for him. Not only was Rocco engrossed but my 6.5year old daughter loved the film so much that when Rocco’s screaming had begun she was adamant she wanted to stay till the end. So I sneaked out to let him run around for 10 minutes and then we caught the last 5/10 min of the film and the fantastic finale where an actual train came through the theatre, how fabulous.

So whats the story all about? Well “Thomas wants to go to the Great Railway Show, but the big engines only laugh at him. They say he’s not strong or big enough to compete from the best around the world, but Thomas is determined to find a way. First, he tries to get himself streamlined, but the Fat Controller decides that it would better be suited for Gordon. Then, he tries to get himself repainted like a brightly coloured engine named Ashima, from India. His plans go horribly wrong. Thomas learns how to be himself when he finally discovers a way to compete. Thomas nearly gets to the show when Diesel threatens his chance once again.”
