So the season has pretty much arrived! Winter is well on its way. And with winter, we get the pleasure of shorter days, darker nights, and so much cold! Even if winter is your favorite season and snow angels are your thing, you have to admit that it’s always so difficult to stay motivated during the winter months. Because really, we all just want to hibernate away and wake up feeling well-rested for spring.

But, because that can’t happen, we have to learn how to get through it all in one piece. And that can often be a lot easier than you think. The way to do it is to break down your life into bitesize pieces that are easier to manage and find motivation in. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Covering off your health, style, work, home, and social lives, we’re going to make sure that you survive winter in the best way possible!

Health

First of all, you’re going to want to think about the ways you can keep your health in check this winter. Sometimes, this is easier said than done, but you should definitely be thinking about the things you can do to ensure you survive winter without getting too sick.

Focus On Nutrition

At this time of year, it’s so easy for different illnesses to want to creep on in. So you’re going to have to do what you can to fight them off. One of the best ways to do this is with nutrition. You’ve probably noticed that you’re craving carbs and comfort foods a lot more. And that’s okay, but you just have to ensure that you’re getting the right nutrients in at the same time, as these are what will help you to stay healthy.

Take Vitamins

There are also a few essential vitamins that we seem to need more of at this time of year, like vitamin C. So you might want to think about taking some extra supplements, just to make sure that you can stay healthy. This will keep your body healthy and help to fight off winter bugs too.

Stay Active

Although it’s tempting to want to cut back on your activity levels this time of year, you’re going to be doing your health much more good if you can actually keep them up. It’s cold and you want to rest more than be active, but if you can commit to doing some kind of activity, even when you don’t want to, you will feel better and find yourself in good shape as soon as spring comes around.

Next up, you’ve got your winter fashion to think about. Even you’re going to keep warm and still feel cute; then you’re going to want to follow three simple rules.

Wrap Up

It’s easy to think that if you’re cold, you can’t be cute. But that couldn’t be any further from the truth. You just need to be smart about what you choose to wear. When the weather is at its worst, then you’re going to need to wrap up warm. To do this, you should be layering clothes ready for winter. Thankfully for us all, there are so many sweet separates that you can use to do this, so shop smart and you can be comfortable and still look cool too.

Go Big

Footwear wise, the bigger the better – and of course we’re talking boots here. Winter boots are so much fun to style. Booties are cute, but when it’s really cold, you’re definitely going to want to have more fun with over the knee and knee-high boots instead. You can style them for everyday wear and special occasions, and still stay nice and toasty!

Dress Up

And don’t forget to finish off those looks with a few fab accessories too. If you’re going to keep warm this winter, then you need to work with the more is more kind of approach. And that means layering on the winter accessories as well as layers of clothes! From bobble hats to earmuffs, there’s so much you can add to an outfit with a simple winter accessory. So stock up, because these are the kinds of pieces that you can wear for years to come.

Work

Let’s face it; nobody wants to work in winter. We’re all cold, and tired, and work can just feel so much harder. But you’re going to get through it. You might not realize it yet, but these are the tools you’re going to apply to make that happen.

Time It Right

When it comes to work, you’re definitely better off trying to get your timings right. Because during the winter months, our body clocks can feel completely off. But they don’t have to. You just have to learn to work with them a little more. This means not only getting to bed a bit earlier, but getting up earlier too. That way, you’re more likely to have more energy in the mornings, which will definitely help you out at work.

Incentivize Yourself

If that sounds a little too out there for your likings, you’re going to need to work on ways to make it all feel a little less hard. And one of the best ways to do that is by having an incredible coffee choice at home. Because when you know that you’ve got a great coffee to wake up to, you know that you’re going to want to get up and make that first cup. So shop for the best coffee you can find and give yourself an incentive to get up earlier.

Pack Up

So we’ve got the mornings sorted, but what about the rest of the working day? You can certainly use the last point to give yourself a bit of a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, but what about until then? How about making sure you pack yourself a hot lunch to keep you warm and give you something to look forwards to at lunchtime.

In winter, we all want to spend much more time at home. And if you’re planning on hibernating a bit this winter, you’re going to want to get your home ready. To make the most of the colder season, here are a few home tips to help you survive.

Cozy Up

From here, you’re going to want to think about the ways you can make your home feel more inviting. After all, you’re going to be spending most of your time here, so it’s got to be right. From squishy new memory foam mattresses to all kinds of throws, think about the pieces your home needs to keep you comfy. You’re going to want to wrap up warm, so texture matters here. And be sure to invest early, so you can make the most of your new pieces.

Stock Up

Next, we’re going to head into the kitchen. Because if you’re going to haul up in here, you need some incredible meals to see you through. So get cooking. You can find some great winter dinners that are comforting, but still easy to make after work that’ll see you through the winter season.

Check Up

Finally, be sure to get all of your home heating essentials checked out and in good time too. You’re going to need to make good use of your radiators and hot water, so be sure that your HVAC is all working properly now, and not when you really need it. At the same time, you should work on getting your chimney checked too. If you have real fires, you want them to burn efficiently and to do that, you’ll need your chimney sweeping.

Social

Finally, you’ve also got your social life to get in check. Even though at this time of year, you might not feel in the most social of moods, you’re going to want to work on making the best of it and to do that; these three ideas should help.

Host At Home

Why not suggest having your friends over to your place? When you don’t want to go out, don’t force yourself. Instead, invite them over and play host. That way, you still get to be social and join in the fun, but you don’t actually have to go out and brave the cold to do it!

Save It For The Weekends

Sometimes, it’s the idea of mustering up the energy to go out at all after work that’s the problem. So don’t. Save your socializing for the weekend. Nobody really wants to do anything after work anyway, so it should be cool. And that way, you can jam pack your weekends full of excitement and keep your weekdays for much-needed rest and relaxation.

Roll With It

Finally, you should definitely think about getting down with some winter activities. After all, it is winter, so you may as well make the most of it. Go ice skating and try out hockey – whatever you fancy. It might be what you need to not just survive the winter season, but fall in love with it too.
