Our favourite place for afternoon tea in the entire world is Sketch in Mayfair. Tucked inside an inconspicuous townhouse it’s deceptively large inside and home to some of the most beautiful interiors we’ve seen. There are 4 distinctively decorated rooms but the Gallery is where you should take your afternoon tea. The pink Art Deco inspired space looks as if it’s been pulled straight from a Wes Anderson movie and what better place to have tea than a movie set?

Brown’s Hotel

At Brown’s Hotels there is a dedicated space for afternoon tea, The English Tea Room. There is a traditional afternoon tea menu but you should by pass that and go for the Tea-Tox Healthy Afternoon Tea option. Yes it’s an  occasion to treat yourself but trust us when we say the menu is amazing from top to bottom. You will feel just as sophisticated indulging in a chocolate tulipe, a chocolate cup filled with creamy creme fraiche and British blueberries or the lovely poached salmon on dark rye bread.

The Luggage Room

Located just around the corner from Bond Street this is the perfect place to relax after a long day in the city. An intimate cocktail bar they serve Low Tea named so because the Duchess of Bedford, who created the phenomenon we now know as afternoon tea in the 19th century, would always take hers on a low table for comfort. The menu reflects that drive to create a relaxed atmosphere with a number of moreish treats from the smoked cheddar and sage scone served with a pear chutney to the salted caramel meringue.

BB Bakery

A gorgeous boutique bakery with french chefs, so you know the pastries and cakes will be divine, located in Covent Garden. Their menu is a feast for the eyes as well as the mouth. Pretty pastel coloured macarons and tantalising tarts make BB Bakery a definite visit if you’re in the area. Even better there is an option of taking your afternoon tea while touring central London in a bus or by boat!  You can also take it away or have a delivered. With so many ways to enjoy their afternoon tea  who could say no to indulging in a treat or two.
