Beauty is a word that gets thrown around alot these days. You always see people say that someone is beautiful or that the person over there looks so beautiful. Magazines, TV shows, movies, and social media paint us this picture of what ‘beautiful’ means.

It leads us to think that if we truly want to be beautiful, we have to copy what we see everywhere else. We have to spend every day in the gym, and eat hardly any food, to get this beautiful body that everyone validates. We have to do our hair a certain way and follow certain makeup trends to be considered beautiful in the eyes of everyone else.

Is this really what being beautiful feels like?

The truth is, feeling beautiful is the complete opposite of this. I’m not saying that going to the gym and eating healthy to get a good body won’t make you feel beautiful. I’m not saying that copying hairstyles and makeup won’t either. What I’m saying is this idea that you need to copy everyone else is wrong.

That’s what I want to talk about today; the secret to feeling truly beautiful. It’s not copying others, it’s not doing things because everyone else thinks they look good. Instead, it’s much simpler than that. The secret to feeling truly beautiful lies within yourself.

Be who you want to be, and you will start feeling so much more beautiful. You can try and fake your way through life and do things you don’t want to do, but you’ll always have that feeling inside that you’re not yourself. You’ll look in the mirror and think, who am I?

The obvious issue here is how do you be yourself? I know that might sound like a very simple question, but it’s easier said than done in today’s society. So, I thought I’d provide a few pieces of advice that can help you be yourself and start feeling truly beautiful.

Don’t Listen To What Others Say

I’m sure we’ve all been in situations where we might have wanted a certain hairstyle or tried on a dress but went against our idea because other people said so. You feel really comfortable and happy in a certain outfit, but then your friends say it looks weird so you take it off. Who cares? Did you feel comfortable and beautiful in that outfit? Yes, so wear it and don’t listen to what others say. There’s no point forcing yourself to wear something or look a certain way just because everyone says it looks nice. You may appear conventionally beautiful on the outside, but you don’t feel it on the inside. It can eat you up inside, and that’s not what true beauty is about. Ignore what others say if you feel comfortable with how you look. Sooner or later, they’ll see how confident and different you are, and they’ll think ‘wow, I wish I could have her confidence.’

Face Your Imperfections

Everyone has imperfections, that’s just a fact of life. No matter what you might think when looking at someone, they have imperfections somewhere. Our imperfections can be the things that cause us the most pain in life. We wake up every morning and get ready and notice our little imperfections that make us incredibly self-conscious. A lot of us will try our hardest to cover up these imperfections, but this only does half the job. They’re still in the back of our mind, and they’re probably playing on our minds even more as we’re worried that are cover ups aren’t going to work, and someone will see the things we hate most about ourselves. What you need to do is face your imperfections, and tackle them head on.

They way you do this is up to you, and there’s no right or wrong answer. You can either accept them and no longer worry about what others think because you accept your imperfections. Or, you can take steps to get rid of them forever. There are loads of places like Zwivel that offer various cosmetic treatments that might be able to fix your imperfections. Some may say this isn’t being you as you’re changing your appearance. However, if you don’t’ feel comfortable with yourself because of imperfection and want it dealt with, then why not? You’ll feel beautiful, and not everyone has the ability to just stop caring about their imperfections and accepting them.

Find Your Style

It’s really hard to reach that place where you can be yourself if you don’t really know who you are. Think about it, you spend your time conforming to other styles and copying things you think are the ‘right’ looks. You’ve probably never sat down and actually thought about who you are and what your style is. What this calls for is a massive shopping trip.

Take some time to go out one day and just do a massive shop. Go to the various stores and start picking out things that you like. Try on as many clothes as possible, and you’ll soon get a feel for different styles. You may wear something that makes you feel so beautiful, and you may wear other things that have the opposite effect. It’s all about trying new things and finding out where you stand and what style fits you and makes you feel gorgeous.

Remember, the secret to feeling truly beautiful is all about you. It’s about feeling happy and comfortable with yourself and the way you look. It’s about doing what you like, not what other people like. There’s every chance that what you like is also what other people like, and you may feel truly beautiful in mainstream fashion following trends. That’s perfectly fine, as long as you feel happy and it makes you feel stunning – that’s all that matters.

I hope you’ve found this piece helpful if you’re maybe struggling to feel beautiful. Just be a bit more self-reflective and try hard not to care what others think. You’ll notice a difference, and you may feel truly beautiful for the first time ever.
