If you put a lot of work into your house but still feel it’s not right, you may be missing the simple things. Focusing on the larger picture of perfect rooms and excellent decor makes it easy to overlook the things that ruin a home. Clutter is a mood killer in any room. Not only does it look bad, but it makes you feel bad. If you can never get your home right, turn your attention to clutter that might be lying around. If that’s the problem, it’s time you turn your attention to cleaning up! Clear space is necessary for a good look and good vibe in any room. Don’t let clutter bury you. Follow these steps to get the problem under control.

The best thing you can do for clearing clutter is getting rid of the bits you don’t need. Whether you’re a hoarder or not, clutter often consists of unnecessary things. Be ruthless when you’re sorting through and decide what you need to keep. It’ll surprise you how much of those items you don’t need. Give it away to friends and family, or donate to charity. Don’t hold onto baggage that’s weighing you down. If you haven’t used something in a year, it’s not something you need in your life. Get rid!

There are bound to be bits you do want to keep, and that’s fine. If there’s a good reason for keeping them, you needn’t feel bad. But, it is important that you sort a particular space for them to go. You want to keep them hidden, so somewhere like a garage is ideal. If your garage is too small as it stands, take a look at something like these garage plans to get an idea of what you can do with the space. If a garage isn’t an option, set aside a wardrobe or cupboard in your home. Anywhere out of sight will do.

If none of the above are an option, it’s time to get creative with your storage space. There are many ways you can incorporate storage into your home. Getting creative with the project can add personality to your home, and become an integral feature of any room. Make sure you’re aware of all the space you have to use so that you can make the most of every opportunity. Think outside the box with this. Get the most out of any small cubby holes or spaces. Make the most, too, of the areas underneath your furniture. Is there a gap between your bed and the floor? Same goes for your sofas. Even the space under your table can come in handy. Try to match your storage solutions with the decor on the rest of your home. That way, they won’t look obvious to guests!
