Quinta Do Lago Fitness Break

Quinta Do Lago Fitness Break

So myself and my bestie are just back from a girl’s weekend at Quinta Do Lago in Portugal and wow, what a place. Bizarrely when I asked Jo, “do you fancy a healthy weekend away at this cool sporting complex in Portugal?” she not only knew of it but her hubby had been training there only a few months back with his footie team for pre-season training, small world!

So Jo was of course totally up for a weekend away, because to be honest, it’s rare we even get time to catch upat home, so if you can’t catch upat home you might as well fly to Portugal for a change of scenery and fabulous food.

Quinta Do Lago is in the Algarve and only a 20 minute taxi ride from Faro airport so really easy to get to from the UK. It doesn’t seem to matter what time of year you go as there’s always something going on at The Campus. The Campus is a purpose built sporting complex which is just incredible. If you want football, golf, tennis or yoga lessons/classes it’s all happening there, they also have bike hire for teams or families, so plenty to do.

If, like my family, you are an active family, this really is the place for you. The area is typically Portugueseand not commercialised, yet the facilities are second to noneand regularly also cater for national and international sporting teams and clubs for training. They offer packages and, alternatively, weekly classes for locals.

We stayed at The Magnolia Hotel, which has a really cool retro California vibe to it. It’s quite small and has super friendly staff, a bar and one restaurant, swimming pool and then for teams staying a gym, chill out room and sauna/jacuzzi facilities etc. For families, I would highly recommend the cottages which are self-contained and then if your kids are like mine and like running around it gives them more space but the comfort of a room-from-room feel with a small lounge and dining area, bathrooms and bedrooms etc.

The thought that we could all hire bikes and go on daily bike rides is just so awesome and the local cycle trails are so pretty on the beaches and passing local wildlife. Then the kids can either enjoy a tennis camp for a few hours daily with Judy Murray (wow) or get involved in the golf camps. I’ve not played any golf for years and in my lessons I felt I had advanced soquickly in just one hour.

The Campus itself had state-of-the-art rehabilitation and wellness facilities alongside a high-performance gym and an aquatic centre. Their aquatic centre is pretty damn cool, with a 25-meter heated outdoor swimming pool and a smaller children’s pool, which allows you to enjoy a full range of swimming amenities from advanced swim lane sessions, beginner’s lessons, group classes to private tutelage. Members and guests can also enjoy a range of hydrotherapy treatments, hot and cold plunge baths, aqua aerobics and water polo.

Here’s a little look at some of their Weekly Programmes that are available. Then there’s the local cuisine—wowjust wow. Myself and my hubby are real foodies and I kind of feel a little bad that he got to experience the local cuisine watching my insta stories. Bovino’s is one of the best steakhouses I’ve been to in a long time. Then there’s the cafe for the most amazing light and quick healthy lunches. For fish you need to checkout Casa do Lago for not only the food but the pretty setting, and lunch at Magnolia was always lush! The chef there is so nice and knowledgeable too! I really could go on for hours about Quinta Do Lago, how incredible the food is and in contrast how relaxing yet challenging my yoga class was.

Finally, there’s the local real estate offering. Jo and I had the best Instagram shoot in one of their still available 5.9 million pound villas. It’s next level luxury combined with comfort and incredible design. I was so in love with this incredible place they nearly had to ask me to leave as I could’ve quite easily stayed therefor my trip. I cannot wait to go back with the family and hopefully Jodie’s too.

If you’reinterested in staying at Magnolia or booking any packages stay tuned as I’ll hopefully be sharing a discount code soon.

Love Naomi xx
