Lu + Mei LFW Interview

We spoke to Hunter Mei, one half of the design team behind the effortlessly cool brand Lu +Mei, about their AW16 Collection. lu+mei

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your new collection?

Well it was inspired by ski resorts in the 1950s/1960s and all the glamorous girls who sit by the cabins and look really cool but don’t really do any skiing. So we have a lot of pieces with a beautiful jacquard fabric and virgin wool. Another part of the collection is down stuffed jackets which you can actually ski in.

Why did you decide to use jacquard and wool in the collection?

We came across some really great Italian mills that supply to Miu Miu, Celine and we decided to work with them. So they developed these materials actually exclusively for us.

If you would like to see one celebrity wearing your clothes who would it be?

I would want Olivia Palermo to wear our clothes because she is just so gorgeous and exactly the kind of girl we want to sell too.
