Lingerie Brand La Perla Appoints New Creative Director

Italian lingerie brand La Perla has appointed Brazilian designer Pedro Lourenço as their new creative director. The young, but highly sought after, designer will debut his first collection for the brand at A/W 2016 Milan Fashion Week.

laperla“I have always admired La Perla” – says Pedro Lourenço – “I am fascinated by the early days of the brand: a small atelier focusing on corsetry made to the highest standards and designed to enhance the beauty of women. The founder, Ada Masotti, a visionary woman, was aware of the fact that fashion was constantly being revolutionized and lingerie had to change with it. In her universe, modernity walked hand-in-hand with femininity and functionality did not preclude creativity. She changed the way the world thinks of lingerie. I am amazed by the philosophy she created and I want to bring it back today.”
He debuted his first collection at Paris Fashion Week at the tender age of 19 and since then has gone on to work at Lanvin, Giambattista Valli as well as collaborate with Nike and Swarovski. Lourenço is only 25 but coupled with his status and experience within the industry it will be very exciting to see what he brings to the historic La Perla brand.
