This is a luxury country house hotel with a difference. Its set in extraordinarily beautiful surroundings and they’ve added the odd contemporary twist to bring it to life. It was five exciting years in the making and the results are a rich collaboration of creative talent at its best. Martin Brudnizki designs the new Hartnett Holder & Co restaurant, and food is by Luke Holder and Angela Hartnett. Great food, immaculate service and superb facilities, ensures Lime Wood is the only 5 star luxury country house hotel in the New Forest National Park. The hotel really is the ultimate countryside getaway; perfect for weekend breaks, a dash from the city, or an escape from home.
The main house comprises of 16 bedrooms, a series of classically designed sitting rooms, library, dining room, informal eatery, bar, cellar and billiard room. Plus additional buildings which include a further 11 suites and two guest rooms. The style is both luxurious and relaxed – an elusive and enticing balance. They’ve made the most of local materials to ensure that the interiors ‘go’ with their surroundings.
Lime Wood has it’s own luxurious spa called the Herb House; a three storey destination spa dedicated to natural wellbeing that has, without question, significantly raised the bar for destination spas around the world. Inspired by its forest surroundings the Herb House naturally invites a sense of calm and serenity bringing clients the ultimate rejuvenating retreat.
Set over three floors the spa has ten spacious treatment rooms including two double signature rooms – the Bath House with an indoor double bath and private steam room, and the Bath Garden with an outdoor double bath and private steam room – and eight further single treatment rooms. The treat in store continues with hot pools, thermal rooms (the Forest Sauna, the Steam House, the Mud House, the Caldarium), the Hands and Feet Room for manicures and pedicures, and private soak baths in changing rooms that feel like decadent bedroom suites fit for royalty. The Herb House goes on…. there’s a state-of-the-art roof top gym with forest views and the very latest in Technogym equipment, a 16 metre Ozone treated indoor lap pool with retracting glass doors to the garden and a workout studio offering fabulous classes from Body Pump to Zumba; Yoga to Tai Chi.
Beyond the gym is the Herbary which is a beautiful roof garden that truly consolidates the forest experience. Filled with fragrant herbs, including a mintarium, these herbs and their fragrances will be incorporated into as many of the spa treatments as possible. With such a tranquil and at-one backdrop, The Herbary provides the dream setting for meditation and reflection. Home-grown herbs will be used in creations made at Raw & Cured which offers delicious, natural and organic food including freshly made salads, sushi and items from Lime Wood’s Smoke House.
Just an hour and a half drive from London! Laid-back luxury at its best – the perfect secluded hideaway escape! Ideal for private parties & celebrations, informal gatherings or as a distraction free setting for a serious brain storming session!
Chefs Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder do the cooking, pulling together both of their much admired signature styles, to create Hartnett Holder & Co, their relaxed and stylish restaurant and bar.
They have a range of flexible spaces that can cater from 2 to 52! So whether you are after that extra special celebration ‘do’, a creative retreat to come up with your next business venture, or a weekend away with the kids, Limewood is a most.
What we personally loved about our Limewood cottage and stay was that the whole arrival and departure was super easy (which can usually be stressful with kids) but the staff come to your car to great you and deal with things immediately. The hotel even though tranquil and sophisticated is super kid friendly and they’re so helpful in the restaurant when it comes to dining with kids. If your staying in the cottage the staff come and collect you for dinner or spa treatments which is fantastic. The grounds are so stunning and vast which is perfect to let the kids run freely. Within our cottage there was literally everything you could need as a family, again checkout my Vlog.
Dinner in the restaurant was old school sophistication but not pretentious which is perfect for a country escape. The staff where really helpful and the food was sensational. You literally have everything you need and I could happily spend a week just hanging out in the cottage and indulging in fine dining at its best. The fact you could also bring your own food and cook in the cottage really helps if you follow a strict diet or have fussy kids.
Thanks Limewood for such a perfect weekend. I look forward to venturing back soon.
