LFW Interview With Designer Lisa Riski

We spoke to Scandinavian designer Lisa Riski about how the beautiful continent of Africa inspired her SS16 collection.

Tell us about the inspiration behind your collection.

It started last February when I was reading Karen Blixen’s Out of Africa so obviously the safari theme kind of crept into the process and also I’ve always wanted to go to a safari, never had the chance so this is kind of my safari,

What was the inspiration behind the colour palette and the palm tree motif?

The colour scheme also comes from the safari. There’s a lot of sand and khaki, which is very African and dry desert. But then the palm trees I was inspired by looking at pictures of Nairobi, where they have a lot of palm trees so it comes from the fun side of the city.

If you could dress one celebrity who would it be?

Oh I’m not very good with celebrities but I’ve always admired Bjork, being from Scandinavia . I would quite like to see some of my stuff on her. But yesterday Susie Bubble had the Rhino Check coat on and she looked lovely in it so I can’t complain.
