John Smedley Launches Childrenswear Capsule Collection
Ok so alot of us ladies love to indulge in the odd designer piece but when it comes to kidswear us mums can become equally obsessed in dressing our kiddies in designer goodies and it gets incredibly addictive. So when a designer branches out into kidswear I have to share the news, it would be rude not to!
After recently celebrating the Royal visit of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to the Lea Mills, Derbyshire factory for the first time since 1968, during which gifts were presented for Prince George, John Smedley have announced the launch of a capsule Childrenswear collection.
Taking inspiration from the modern specialist knitwear presented to Her Royal Highness during the visit, as well as archive designs of gifts presented in 1968 for the then young Princes Charles and Andrew, John Smedley has created a four-piece collection for both boys and girls.
The boys collection consists of a classic crew neck sweater and a two-button polo shirt that perfectly compliments the classic range offered in the men’s mainline. The classic crew neck sweater, Aardvark, has long sleeves and contrast tipping detail, a limited edition style perfect for casual days out with your little ones or smartening up a pair of mini denims for everyday wear. The two button down polo, Rhino, is made from John Smedley’s famous super soft Sea Island cotton and acts as the first introduction to luxury fashion.
Within the girls collection a super fine merino wool cardigan, Aoife, offers the perfect first layering piece over beautiful day dresses, a true mother and daughter fashion-bonding piece. The collection is then completed with a quintessential John Smedley piece, the Nylah, a super soft crew neck Sea Island cotton t-shirt that perfectly represents the brand’s unrivalled history as well as its relevance in a modern fashion conversation.
John Smedley is currently celebrating 230 years in business, and having manufacturing luxury knitwear on the same site at Lea Mills, John Smedley is the oldest manufacturing factory in the world in continuous operation. This beautifully crafted childrenswear collection of luxurious knitwear perfectly reinforces John Smedley’s reputation for craftsmanship and their position as a historic brand with contemporary design appeal.
