Everyone wants to know what the secret to a great and healthy relationship is, and it’s simple: quality time. But, in their quest for quality time, more and more people are investing in date night. Don’t get me wrong – date nights are an excellent way to concentrate on you and your partner. The only thing that gets in the way is the need to leave the house. Having dinner and watching a movie is a standard night out and gets old after awhile. It’s time to stay in for once and enjoy sitting on the couch. Here are some other things you can do, too.

Order A Takeaway

There is nothing better than cosying up to the person you love and eating junk food. It’s almost as if there is something right about it like it is evolution at work! Plus, food isn’t a personal experience because it’s a great way for people to connect. It may be because you like the same things, or you may opt for a sharing cuisine like tapas. Whatever it is, the experience will bring you closer together. And, with Just Eat partnering with O’Briens Wine there’s no need to forget the booze. Delicious food and alcohol – why would you want to leave the house?!

Set The Mood

No, it doesn’t have to lead to anything sexual! Sure, mood lighting is an aphrodisiac, but it also creates a nice atmosphere. Whether you do cuddle under the sheets or sit and watch a movie, it’s always nice to have an ambience. Candles are a firm favourite of mood lighting enthusiasts, but dimming the lights is another simple method. Or, turn off the lights altogether and leave it to the glow from the TV while lying in each other’s arms. Bliss!

One of the main reasons to stay in is to talk and get to know each other better. Now, this may sound weird considering you’re married and not new lovers. However, it is amazing how many times things get in the way when you’re at home. For example, the kids start to play up and need your attention. Then, before you know it, you’re both tired and ready for bed. And, the din at a restaurant doesn’t encourage good conversation. The peace and quiet of the living room, however, is the perfect place to confide in one another.

Be Spontaneous

There is a temptation to plan ‘the best night ever.’ Unfortunately, organising fun doesn’t turn out the way people usually hope. The fact is that the best times are the ones that happen spontaneously. So, even if you plan on having a night in, don’t force anything. Instead, go with the flow, see what happens, and don’t be afraid to deviate from the arrangements. Never forget that spontaneity is the key to a happy and loving relationship. Why? It’s because unpredictability is exciting.

As soon as it becomes predictable, the relationship will get boring and stale and the love fade away.
