Getting It Right When Picking Beauty Products As Gifts

deb1

When we’re buying a gift for a female relative or friend – be it for Mother’s Day or for a birthday – we often turn to beauty products. Why beauty products, you may be wondering. Well, we tend to turn to beauty products as go-to gifts for a number of reasons, one of which is that a lot of women don’t tend to treat themselves to luxurious new beauty products all that often. Making them the perfect gift idea for anyone who loves looking after themselves but doesn’t tend to treat themselves.

While beauty products make fantastic gifts, there’s just one small problem with picking beauty items for someone else, and that’s getting the right things. You see, we all have different tastes when it comes to beauty, and all have our own likes and dislikes, so how can we go about picking products that are a perfect fit for a friend or relative? Admittedly, it can be tricky, but if you take note of the tips and ideas below, you can make the process of picking the perfect beauty-related gift a little easier for yourself.

Makeup: First of all, let me start by saying that makeup can make a great gift, but it’s also one of the hardest things to buy someone in terms of a gift. Why? Because makeup is so, so personal and we each have our own likes and dislikes. The key to makeup success is steering clearing of certain products, such as foundation, for example. This is because picking that perfect shade is a nightmare and the chances are you’ll get it wrong. Why not pick an item (or a few items) that you swear by? Instead of trying to get your friend or relative products that they would normally use, be brave and get them something different that you’ve tried and tested and loved. Obviously, it’s important to take their colour preferences into account when it comes to picking eyeshadow, lipstick or blush, to ensure it’s a good match for them, instead of picking the colours that you tend to opt for.

Fragrance: Next up is fragrance. If the person that you are buying for always compliments you on your perfume, then why not get them a bottle of it for them? Admittedly, perfume actually smells different on everyone, but the chances are they’ll still love it. Or, if you can’t get the perfume that you wear, pick one that is similar in terms of smell. For instance, say your perfume has floral tones, go online to The Fragrance Shop or another perfume store and look at the perfumes that have the same tones, and you’re sure to find a suitable one. To check it smells nice, pop into your local store and spritz yourself with it.

Hair products: Picking hair products for someone else is never easy, unless you know their hair type and how they like to style their hair, which if you’re close with them, you probably do. Like when picking makeup, it could be a good idea to pick them products from a brand that you love and know offer high-quality products. Perhaps they don’t use natural products as they deem them too expensive, but you love them. If so, maybe you could get them some natural hair products to show them why they’re priced as they are – aka because of the quality of them. How about putting together a hair care hamper for them with lots of product minis in?

Bath and shower: Bath and shower products make great gifts as a lot of women fail to treat themselves to luxury bath and shower products. Pick products from brands that they love or that you love and they’ve never tried before. For vegan, cruelty-free bath and shower products, Lush is a great option – their bath bombs, shower jellies, and soap bars are to die for. They smell incredible, don’t test on animals, and best of all, are ideal for using to relax and unwind, making them the perfect pamper gift. Just make sure that the person you’re picking the bath and shower products for doesn’t suffer from eczema or other skin allergies as scented bath products can cause reactions.

There you have it, a guide to picking beauty products as gifts for your friends and relatives. Admittedly, it’s not always easy to get it right when it comes to picking beauty products for other people. Hopefully, however, the tips and ideas above will help to make the process a little easier for you.
