Every year my husband’s birthday comes around, and every year I struggle to find him the perfect present. At first, I felt bad about this, I mean, surely I should know what he likes? But then I realised that it wasn’t that I didn’t know him well enough, but, that like most men, he is incredibly fussy when it comes to what he likes.

I know that when it comes to struggling to find my husband the perfect gift, I am not alone. Us ladies know that shopping for men is hard, regardless of how well we know them. Finding that perfect gift that your man will love is never easy, it takes lots of time and effort.

Recently, I decided that enough was enough and that the time had come to create a gift guide for men. I wanted to create a guide with lots of ideas for gifts for men, which were fun and guaranteed to be a success.

For all my favourite gift ideas for my husband, and your husband to, keep reading, below:

Wallet

Now, before you roll your eyes and say how boring wallets are as gifts, hear me out. Many of us dismiss wallets as gifts for our other half, as we believe that they are a dull, boring gift. But, if your man is in need of a new wallet, and you choose wisely, a wallet can make a fantastic gift. Plus, even if it isn’t the best gift he has ever received, he will get lots of use out of it, and so, will appreciate the gesture.

If you are going to buy him a wallet, make sure to choose him a beautiful one. If he tends only to have one style of wallet, use his old wallet for guidance. If you want to choose him something that will last for years, leather is definitely the best option. Think about what colour your man’s wallets tend to be – black, brown or tan, and choose him one in a similar colour.

Tickets to see his favourite team play

If your man is sports mad – what guy isn’t, then a pair of sports tickets are the ideal birthday present. Whether your husband is into football or rugby, he’ll appreciate the gift of tickets to watch his favourite team or sportsman play.

If your husband isn’t into sports, then you could always get him tickets to see a concert or a theatre production. Think about what he likes and then choose the perfect tickets for him. Whether that’s sports tickets or tickets to see something else, it doesn’t matter.

Experience day

If your husband is someone who appreciates doing exciting things, then an experience day might be right up his street. The best thing about experience days is that there are so many options to choose from. So whatever he enjoys doing, you should find something that he will love.

If you like the idea of getting him an experience day, the first thing that you need to do is browse the options available. Think about the types of things that your man enjoys, and then go from there.

Does your husband enjoy playing golf? Or, does he prefer something a little more adventurous, like abseiling, potholing or driving fast cars? Whatever hobbies your husband enjoys, there will be an experience day that’s just perfect for him.

Watch

Again, you might think that this one is a little overdone, but watches can make great birthday presents. Just because your man already has a watch, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t need another one.

If your husband has a day watch, but no evening watch, then why not surprise him with one? Or, vice versa, if he has an evening watch, but no day watch, get him one of those, instead. Or, if he already has a watch, but it’s nothing special, why not buy him an amazing one to replace it?

I am a real fan of vintage watches, as I love the fact that they have a story behind them. So if I were going to get my partner a new watch, I would most probably opt for a vintage one, instead of a brand new one.

Weekend away

If you and your husband rarely get any time together, due to work and other commitments, then a weekend away is the perfect present. Perhaps there is a hotel that your man loves or a place that he has always wanted to visit? Or, maybe there is somewhere that is special to the two of you that you could plan a trip to? Choose a destination that your partner would love – either abroad or in the UK, and plan a trip there.

To make the weekend away even more special, make sure to book into the swankiest hotel that you can find. It’s also a good idea to tailor the trip to him so that you spend the weekend doing all of the things that he enjoys. Whether that’s playing golf, going for long walks or exploring, make sure to make the trip all about him.

Homemade treats

If your man isn’t a big present guy – he would prefer not to make a fuss, why not make him some homemade treats as a gift? He might not want anything, in particular, to mark his big day, but I’m sure he would appreciate a few tasty treats to snack on.

Think about his favourite sweet treats – what cakes and biscuits does he like? Is he more of a sweetie person – are fudge and marshmallows more his thing? Whatever sweet treats he likes, you should be able to find a recipe online to make them. So even if he isn’t a cake person, you can still surprise him with a delicious birthday treat.

Us ladies know that when it comes to choosing a gift for our husbands, that it can be a little tricky. That’s why I wanted to share my favourite gift ideas with you so that you wouldn’t feel stuck for present ideas when your husband’s birthday comes around.
