Many of us end up in careers we aren’t happy with. Why is it that we settle for the things we don’t want? In part, our habit for settling seems to come from fear of failure. That, and the fact that we don’t know where we want to be. If you’re one of those people, it’s time to take the leap. Don’t let 2017 pass you by like all those other years. If you’ve never considered where you would like to be, you’ve got some work to do. The key to finding your dream career is to work out what you can do with your skill set. Here are some options you might want to consider. Turn your hobby into your job this year!

WRITING

If you love writing, it’s time to work out how to turn that into a career. Many jobs involve writing; it’s just a case of finding one that suits you. If you’re aiming high, you might want to go straight in and aim for author fame by writing a book. Bear in mind that this isn’t going to be an easy path. It might be a long time before you see any return here. Even so, anything is possible if you put in enough work. If you’ve got a book idea, don’t hesitate to start writing! If you want a more immediate payoff from your writing, there are plenty of other options. Why not start a blog, and see if you can make some money that way? All you need is an original concept and a way with words. Or you could go down the journalist route. The options are endless. Take your writing seriously by getting to grips with which path you could take.

FITNESS

If you’re a fitness fanatic, why not turn that into a career? You could keep yourself fit, and make money at the same time. There are many paths you could take to make this dream a reality. If you have money behind you, you could set up a gym. Or, you could look into becoming a personal trainer or a gym instructor. The benefit with a lot of fitness related jobs is that you would be working on a self-employed basis. What better way to take your life into your hands? Do a little research to see your options. Find out if there are any courses you would need to take to be eligible. Your fitness is one thing. Teaching other people requires a level of understanding you might not have yet.

COMMUNICATION

If communication is your skill set, get a job where you can put it to good use. Try to use your communication to do good by getting involved in social care. You could take it to the extreme and do a course in therapy. That way, you could use your communication ability to help people deal with their issues. Again, the options are endless. Don’t hesitate to find out where you could take your communication goals.
