Emilia Wickstead London Fashion Week AW14 Collection
A key name to listen out for is increasingly that of Emilia Wickstead, a favourite of Kate Middleton, convert Suki Waterhouse and regularly found on the red carpet. Her AW 14 Collection of Day 2 London Fashion Week took a slightly edgier tone. This collection was quite a contrast to some of the designs that her label is famous for, more demure and subtle tailoring and tones.
Film noir and tones of Erwin Blumenfeld’s photography inspired the dramatic AW14 collection. The scowling models were stomping down the catwalk in snakeskin, leather and spiked metallic heels. A far cry from the feminine designs the princess loves.
In attendance at the show were Poppy Delevingne, Olivia Palermo and Laura Bailey who opted for a bright SS striped Emilia Wickstead dress.
Makeup was by Max Factor’s lead make-up artist, Mel Arter, the look she was creating was ‘raw nude’.
Key colours seen in this collection were black, brown, mustard and pastels with a standout fuchsia gown..
The footwear for the show were spiked Manolo Blahnik heels.
Key overtones of the collection were turtle necks, flared skirts and nipped waists. Fabrics were leather, lace, snakeskin and floral prints with eye catching detail to beading designs on lace and the embroidering of hundreds of Swarovski crystals
EMILIA WICKSTEAD, British-based and New Zealand born, spent her formative years in Milan and gained a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Fashion Design and Marketing at Central Saint Martin’s London with Honours in 2007. Emilia worked at fashions houses in New York and Milan before returning to London to establish her own label in 2008. Emilia was shortlisted for the BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund and Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize in 2013.
A bold collection for a normally demure, I love it but what did you think? I’d love to know or if there’s a piece that stands out for you? Please comment below or let’s chat via my twitter @naomikisted
