Doing London in Luxury

Doing London in Luxuryclear-coffee

London is one of the most expensive cities in Europe for hotel accommodation, which is bad news if you’re looking for a break on a budget. However, if you have some cash to splash, you can really go to town on living the luxury lifestyle. London might be more expensive than other destinations, but it also has some of the oldest and best hotels, restaurants, and other services that you can’t miss out on while you’re in the English capital. If you want to see the city in true luxury, you need to know where to go for top service and posh treats. Make the most of your time in London with these tips.

Choose a Top Hotel

The priority for many people when they’re travelling is where they’re going to stay. At the very least, you need a comfortable bed to sleep it. But if you’re looking for luxury, your standards are likely to be a lot higher. London is home to some big names in the hotel industry, like The Dorchester, The Savoy, and The Ritz. These traditional hotels are top choices for a lot of visitors, but there are more modern options too. Some people might prefer a more intimate, but no less luxurious, boutique hotel instead. Properties like those belonging to Firmdale Hotels or the Red Carnation Collection are examples of popular options.

Travel in Style

If you want to see London in style, you don’t want to spend your time on the tube or taking buses. While they’re perfectly acceptable ways to get around, they don’t exactly shout luxury. There are better ways to see the city if you want to explore. One option is to look for a London chauffeur service or hire a private car. Some hotels will offer chauffeur services for people staying in suites, and you can even find hotel packages that include a luxury car for you to drive during your stay. For something a little different, why not travel by water and take a boat?

Eat in the Right Places

If there’s one thing London does well, it’s food. The UK might have a bad reputation for cuisine, but London is a vibrant city with many great places to eat. The city has a number of Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as some amazing celebrity hotspots. If you’re on the lookout for celebs, try the Chiltern Firehouse, a restaurant and hotel owned by US hotelier Andre Balazs. For restaurants with an incredible three Michelin stars, visit Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester or Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Chelsea.

Go Shopping

You might be able to go shopping in pretty much any city, but London does have some great places to spend your cash. Your best bet is to head to the aptly named Luxury Quarter, a collection of streets in the West End (Mayfair), where you’ll find the very best shops, places to eat and art galleries to visit too.

It’s easy to do London in style. In fact, there’s almost too much choice. So before you go, maybe map out what you want to do.
