Throwing a dinner party can often be seen as a civilised event. Perhaps you want to celebrate a particular milestone or event in your life, or simply want to use it as an excuse to gather with good company and even better food and drink. Whatever the motive for your dinner party, it sometimes can be a little stressful to organise and implement. Which is why I thought I would share with you some quick and easy tips to help you be that hostess with the mostess.

Where will you host the dinner party?

One of the first things to consider would be where you will want to host your dinner party. Will you want to choose a location and maybe hire out a private dining facility, or will you choose to do it at home? You might also want to think about the furniture you have and whether you have enough entertaining and dining space for our guests. This is when you may want to invest in some new furniture, something like a glass dining table and 6 chairs could be the perfect option. It’s important to think about the logistics and often hosting at home can make the affair seem far more relaxing and inviting.

Will there be some sort of theme?

Another thing to consider would be the theme of your dinner party. If it is for a specific event, then you may want to think about highlighting that during your dinner party. Perhaps a point of the evening to toast the occasion, or having something like a cake to signify the event.

Make sure you take careful consideration with the menu

The menu is the epitome of the dinner party, Everyone will remember the food you serve and how you served it, so make sure you are careful with your choice of meals. Think about using seasonal ingredients and where you source them, perhaps sticking with signature dishes that have been tried and tested time and time again. You also want something you are comfortable in producing to ensure that you can relax and enjoy the party as well.

Don’t forget to compliment your choices with drinks

While it’s important to make sure you have a good menu, make sure the drinks you are serving compliments the food or the ingredients. You could also consider a welcome drink or cocktail and offer something special for toasting like a glass of champagne.

Will you want to decorate the entertaining space?

Decorating your home for the occasion can make your dinner party feel extra special. You could consider a colour theme or be specific to the event itself.

Finally, be selective with your guest list

Try and think about the guests you want to invite. If you are inviting people from different groups, take into account their personalities and whether they may get on with other guests. A dinner party is a smaller affair, which means it is important for everyone to gel.

I hope these tips help you become the hostess with the mostess at your next dinner party.
