Caitlin Charles-Jones LFW Interview

We spoke to knitwear designer Caitlin Charles-Jones about her AW16 collection during London Fashion Week.

Tell us  about your new AW16 collection?

So this season it’s inspired by mountain active wear and sports wear so we’ve got some very big generous, bold silhouettes, but very clean and easy to wear. American glass artist Dave Chihuly who does really lively pops of colour on strong natural bases also inspired it. So that’s what I’ve tried to create here. It’s made from merino wool and then also some mohair, which is blended through the stripes to try and keep the flow of the colours.

Why did you decide to specialise in knitwear?

Well I specialised in my second year of studying. I didn’t think it would be for me to be quite honest because I’m quite an impatient person but when you get into it for me the joy is creating something from one thread. I can have control from start to finish and for me definitely the joy is in the process. So it suits me very well. Caitlin-charles-jones

Which celebrity would you love to see wearing your clothes?

I’d love to see Alexa Chung in one of my little dresses. She’s got such a versatile style and she’d bring her unique take on it. I also really like the idea that someone could wear this in amongst their everyday wardrobe rather than a head to toe look.
