Bright Ideas to Improve Your Relationships

Relationships

Relationships will flounder if you do not work at them. Romance will disappear and once you start taking each other for granted, it is hard to get it back. There are ways to prevent this from happening and to keep your relationship on a stable footing.

Really Listen

You might have had a hard day at the office, but your partner’s day could have been even worse. Really listen to what they are telling you and show them that you care.  According to research carried out by the University of California, feeling understood and cared for by someone else promotes feelings of well being and helps to strengthen relationships.

Make Time For Intimacy

A recent study showed that couples who are intimate at least once a week are more satisfied in their relationships than those who have it less often. The problem is that often people’s lives are so busy they just want to go to sleep every night. Make the time for intimacy to help keep the romance alive in your life.

Then a problem can arise if one partner wants intimacy more often than the other. Sometimes this can become so much of a problem that the friskier of the two becomes addicted to porn and sex, and then the best solution is to see a sex therapist to get your relationships sorted before it falls apart. There’s no shame in seeking professional helo if you really need it.

Turn Off The Tech

Wherever you are you will see people on smartphones. It is like they cannot live without checking their emails or social media all the time. Although this can be a great way of communicating and of keeping in contact with people you do not see so often, there is nothing to beat chatting face to face.

You may have messaged each other several times throughout the day, but once you are at home together in the evenings, you should both you’re your smartphones off for a couple of hours at least. Enjoy your meal together without the constant bleeping of messages arriving. There is nothing that cannot wait a while, except the importance of your time together.

Show Appreciation

There are lots of ways to show appreciation, and make your partner feel good. For instance, if they have cooked a meal, do not forget to say thank you and clear away afterwards. If they have been looking after the kids all day, take over for an hour so they can have a nice relaxing bath, or just put their feet up with a good book. Showing appreciation is completely free, but will mean an awful lot to your partner.

Often just a simple thanks will make all the difference in a relationship, so say it often and mean it.

Know Your Partner

No one will know your partner as well as you do. You will know the sorts of interests they have, the types of meals they like and how they best like to be entertained. If for example, motorbikes are one of their interest, buy yourself all the gear and be their pillion passenger. If they enjoy comedy clubs, go along with them for a laugh.

Of course, everything in a relationship has to work both ways, but adults, not just children, learn by example. If you become more interested in them and more caring towards them, you may well find they behave the same way towards you.
