A Room with a View
A Room with a View
When I stay in London, mainly due to work, I tend to stay around Mayfair or the Westend but for mine and my hubbies 7th wedding anniversary decided to mix things up a bit. We wanted to stay around Shoreditch so we could enjoy the fab and funky restaurants and bars for our weekend away. The Shoreditch mellow vibe is definitely so different to the hustle and bustle around Oxford Street with all the shoppers, traffic and tourists.
So we found the most incredible room with a view in between Tower Hill and Shoreditch at Motel One. Anyone that reads the interiors or travel sections of my blogs or work will know I am definitely more of a minimalist chic type of female and was pleasantly surprised with this fab find in the heart of London city. We arrived super late for check-in, it was nearly 12.30 am by the time we arrived post film premiere, dinner and drinks. And the staff couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating at that very random arrival time in the morning.
Set a 3-minute walk from the Aldgate tube station, this hip hotel is also a 12-minute walk from the Tower of London and 2.4 miles from the London Eye observation wheel. The sleek, contemporary rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, desks and rainfall shower heads. There’s a fashionable cafe/bar with plush lounge chairs and a fireplace. Other amenities include breakfast (surcharge) and free iPad rentals.
So my hubby went for a run early along Tower bridge and took in the most incredible morning views of the city whilst I relaxed in the room with my coffee, writing my blogs just in awe of the most incredible view. Floor to ceiling glass meant that we were surrounded by city lights and skyscrapers, what a perfect sight to wake up to to get the creativity flowing.
Checkout is at a very leisurely 12 o’clock, wow nice we can have a lay in and not be rushed to vacate at 10am.
Another important factor is how comfy the beds are and how stylish the compact but trendy bathroom is. We had such a lovely stay we will definitely be heading back soon. Check it out here Motel One.
