5 Trendy Cities for a California Vacation This Summer

Tourists from all over the world flock to California for a number of reasons, but usually to see Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Los Angeles. Unfortunately, these are touristy cities that, while nice to visit, just don’t have the local allure that so many other trendy cities in California have to offer. If you are planning a vacation to California this summer, why not choose a destination that will offer a taste of real trend-setting life in Cali? Unless you have your heart set on walking the Hollywood Stars or seeing “Hollywood” lit up on the side of the hill at night, you just might be surprised at how much these other cities have to offer that you would never find in the south western corner of the state.

Palo Alto

Located in the northwestern corner of Santa Clara County, Palo Alto is home to world-renowned Stanford University. It is technically within the San Francisco Bay area but a city unto itself, separate from Frisco and separate from tech-savvy Stanford. Here you will get a true boutique hotel experience when staying in luxurious boutique hotels such as The Nest in Palo Alto California.

South Lake Tahoe

Many travelers know South Lake Tahoe as one of the leading ski resorts in the United States but the summer shows a whole different side to this amazing little city. Right across the border, part of the same city, is Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side where you can gamble in casinos such as Harrah’s, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe or the Montbleu Resort. The lake is amazingly beautiful and throughout the summer you will find activities such as swimming, fishing, boating and diving.

Mt. Shasta

Are you into the mystical side of life? If so, Mt Shasta may be the perfect summer vacation spot for you! Join the thousands who come here each and every year hoping to get a glimpse of the mythical Lemurians who are said to live deep within the mountains and are really quite shy about showing themselves to mere mortals.

San Francisco

Now then, what can or needs to be said about San Francisco? From historic trolley cars to one of the largest China towns this side of China, you will be able to say that you visited the origin of the 60s Hippie movement. Haight-Ashbury is where it all began and someplace you won’t want to miss. Don’t forget to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge for a spectacular view of the Bay and the city.

Known as one of the world’s leading producers of fine wines, Napa is a city any true wine aficionado really must see. Take tours of local vineyards by day and eat at one of the trendy eateries by night. Here you will find many dishes made from local produce, dairy and beef. Truly a delectable stop on a California vacation tour.

So you can easily see that California has so much more to offer than L.A., San Diego, Beverly Hills and the movie capital of the world, Hollywood. Being such a big state there is so much to see and so much to do that California really should be your vacation destination for summer 2016.
