If you have outdoor space at your home, it may well be that you are not making the most of it. Whether it is a patio, a garage, a driveway or a front or back garden, are you really utilising what it gives you? After all, everything out there is extra space that belongs to your property and therefore belongs to you. So it only makes sense that you use it.

In this guide, we’ll look at four top tips for making the most out of your home’s outdoor space. Read on to find out more…

Build a summer house

One of the most effective ways to really utilize that space is to build an outdoor structure. When it comes to creating an extra room in your garden, your options are many. Get rid of garden clutter, and keep items secure and dry in a shed. Give teenagers their own private space with a garden retreat. Or give yourself some privacy with a summer house (that is fitted up so you can use it all year around!) Secure locks give your belongings inside safety, and you can improve safety further by going for a metal construction. These are often deemed safer than wooden ones.

Clear out your clutter

On the other hand, it could be that you are wasting that space because your garden is so full of clutter. Maybe you have old furniture out there that you’ve been meaning to take to the tip… for two years now! Maybe you’ve let a patch of weeds get nasty at the bottom end, and now they’ve taken over. Whatever the case, a good old Garden Clearance could just what you need. It will get rid of things you don’t need or want. In their place, you can put things you actually need and want. Maybe make a new patio for a BBQ and seating area, or get that trampoline your kids have been asking about for months!

Make a vegetable patch

This tip makes the most of your outdoor space, and can also save you money. Instead of buying veggies every week at the supermarket, grow you own. All you need is a bit of space, some seeds, and some elbow grease. Many people wrongly think that veggie patches are hard work, but they couldn’t be more wrong. They’re actually very easy. Supplement your carrots and potatoes with some herbs and you’ll save money on a weekly basis! Plus, you’ll know that what you’re eating is totally healthy and preservative free- bonus!

Hire out your driveway

Similar to the veggie patch, this tip makes the most of your outdoor but can actually make you money. If you have a driveway that you don’t use, or don’t need to use as are happy to park on the street, hire it out! This will be especially effective if on-street parking and car parks in the town or city where you live is expensive. Undercut these rates and you are sure to have interest from local businessmen and women looking to save a pound or two!
